On this occasion, we were responsible for producing exterior renderings for the installation of advertising banners in the centre of Málaga. During the course of the works on the Alameda Principal, we not only contributed to the architectural visualisation and the production of the renderings but also in a comprehensive architectural project that encompassed the phases of public engagement, the basic design and construction phases, and is currently providing technical assistance with site management. As part of one of the phases of the architectural project, which is currently underway, the sculpture belonging to the Marquis of Larios (Mariano Benlliure, 1898) is being moved so that it can be restored at a specialist workshop.
Following the dismantling of the bronze sculptures, the pedestal was moved by crane to its new location in the Alameda, in the centre of Málaga, after which tarpaulins featuring images from the exterior computer-generated imagery were put in place.
The aim of these elements is simply to compensate for the absence of the sculpture, which has been a prominent feature of the city’s Alameda since the late 19th century. During the restoration work, reference is made to the accurate image provided by these canvases, on the faces of which some of the exterior renderings and computer-generated images produced for this project can be seen, as well as a montage based on life-size photographs of the monument in a composition that emulates the final result through two different strategies: photography and computer-generated imagery.
As regards the restoration of the Marqués de Larios, work is being carried out not only on the bronze sculpture itself, but also on the other elements that make up the sculptural ensemble: two further sculptures that accompany it and the pedestal that supports them and forms the base. In the latter case, the restoration of a natural stone pedestal—which has since been lost—is being considered during the execution of the works, and its dimensions have been reconstructed using computer-aided design techniques and old photographs.

To produce the canvases depicting the sculptural ensemble, the following workflow is established: once this information has been obtained, the original pedestal is reconstructed using 3D modelling, resulting in a model with characteristics similar to those seen in the visual documentation derived from archive images. Subsequently, after applying a texture similar to that derived from this information, and after applying the lighting conditions observed in the photographs of the sculptural ensemble, a final image is produced, the result of which is a combination of these exterior computer-generated images and the photographs taken on site.
The result is a highly accurate recreation of reality, not only of the architecture through computer-generated imagery, but also of the architectural and urban visualisation of the monument’s exterior, which can be viewed from various vantage points in the centre of Málaga, thus giving an idea of how it will blend into the urban environment once the sculpture complex has finally been restored.
